Expanding a Family Legacy
BOP Plumbing and Gas is a growing trade business based in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Founded in 2014 by Sarah and Aaron Jamieson, the company has expanded from a small family-run outfit into a three-branch operation offering plumbing, gas, drainage, and wood fire maintenance and new installations. The company now has 26 employees across Rotorua, Kawerau and Te Puke.
Building Structure for Scale
Sarah, an accountant by trade, took on the role of systems, finance, and operations lead. Her goal was to bring order, consistency, and visibility across every part of the business. This required the right tools.
"I like process, and I like systems," said Jamieson. "We had grown out of our old system, and it wasn’t giving us the reporting or multi-branch visibility we needed."
After using GeoOp and then Fergus, BOP Plumbing & Gas made the switch to Simpro in late 2022 during the acquisition of their Te Puke branch. The team there was already using Simpro, and it quickly became clear the platform was a better fit for their long-term needs.

With Simpro in place, BOP Plumbing and Gas now manages all three branches through a single system. Staff scheduling, job tracking, and customer management are visible across the business, making it easier to share resources and stay coordinated.
"Before Simpro, we had to log into different systems for each branch. Now everything is shared. We can see who's available, where everyone is, and what jobs are in progress. That alone has saved us huge amounts of time," said Jamieson.
The implementation process, led entirely by Jamieson, was guided but hands-on. It gave her deep knowledge of the platform and control over how the system was structured. Within weeks of going live, the team saw improvements in invoicing speed, job visibility and data accuracy.

Simpro has streamlined daily operations at every level. The team uses saved searches, work-in-progress tracking, supplier integrations and the mobile app to stay efficient in the field and in the office.

BOP Plumbing and Gas is now exploring additional integrations, including EzzyBills for automated invoice matching and Lana for AI-assisted reception and CRM support. Simpro remains the core platform driving operations, from field service to finance.
"Simpro gives us the structure and visibility to grow the right way. It supports how we work now and where we want to go," said Jamieson.
