simPRO Update: Assign tasks to multiple staff

The countdown is on for the end of 2019 and the simPRO team are granting Christmas wishes early! This release delivers a popular feature request from the Ideas Portal - the ability to assign project tasks to multiple people for stronger project management.

Assign tasks to multiple employees and contractors

simPRO's project management tools have been in the spotlight recently with several task enhancements implemented. We extended the functionality of linked tasks as well as added date validation and progress tracking to tasks.

These enhancements paved the way for the introduction of Gantt Charts, which have been popular with project managers.

And now tasks are back on the development agenda. Inspired by your requests in the Ideas Portal, simPRO’s tasks can now be assigned to multiple employees or contractors. The increased visibility will keep project schedules moving forward, as the first available person can take charge of completing the task.

Every person who is added to the task will receive an email notification and other alerts. To avoid confusion and facilitate communication between staff, the email will clearly show everyone assigned to the task. Notifications can be turned off on the task screen if preferred.

The task will display for all assigned staff members using Connect. Likewise, everyone assigned to the task will be able to see it in the Employee Portal.

When the task is done, a new “Completed By” field facilitates accurate record keeping. And when the status is marked as Closed, Closed Behind or Closed Ahead, the progress % field will now automatically update to 100%.

The new feature is reflected in multiple areas of simPRO.

On the Gantt Chart timeline, all assigned staff will be displayed. BI Reporting has also been updated to include the new “Complete by ID” field in advanced business intelligence, dashboards and SQL Queries. And the new Completed By field is also shown in the Tasks I Modify Table View and Task Completed Report.
