simPRO Update: Short Project Names and images in quotes and jobs

Product Update | 3 minute read

The simPRO Ideas Portal has inspired another round of updates. 118 suggestions have made it into simPRO’s field service management software this year. And those in the upcoming release (rolling out from July 14) have attracted over 500 votes between them!

Read on to find out more about the addition of Short Project Names and the ability to see product images when adding Pre-Build and Catalogue product images to quotes or jobs.

Short Project Names for easier project identification

Do you find words easier to read and remember than numbers? You’re not alone. Job Numbers are used throughout simPRO to identify projects. But over 400 simPRO users voted on the Ideas Portal to have Job and Quote Descriptions added! That's why the latest update introduces Short Project Names.

Short Project Names will allow field service businesses to give a descriptive title to Projects, including Leads, Quotes, Jobs and Recurring Jobs. This will make it significantly quicker and easier for staff to discern one project from another.

When added to a project, the Short Project Name will appear everywhere you would expect to see a Job Number. For example, users will see the Short Project Name on all project pages, schedule blocks, dashboards, reminders and reports. Users can also search for Short Project Names, which will help users who can remember project details, but not the number.

The Short Project Name is an optional description. When it is not assigned to a project, simPRO will simply revert to displaying the Job Number.

Product images speed up quote and job creation

Our brain is wired to process pictures 60,000 times quicker than words. And we remember 80% of what we see, but only 20% of what we read.

Anyone who has ever looked at a list of parts can tell you that product descriptions can be confusing, and items can sound similar. simPRO helps users decipher these lists with product pictures for catalogue and pre-build items. But until now, the images did not display within a quote or job. For users to visually confirm the right choice, they switch to a different screen to see images.

In the simPRO Ideas Portal, customers voted to streamline this process by allowing users to see catalogue and pre-build images in quotes and jobs.

Now, when adding Pre-Builds or Catalogue items from the Parts & Labour tab of the project, users will see a new column for product images. The change will improve the speed and accuracy of building quotes and jobs. Which, in turn, reduces costs for your field service business.
