Janine Russell Celebrates 10 Years at Simpro

August 18, 2022

Janine Russell, accounts officer, has been helping with Simpro’s finances for the past 10 years now, having moved around the department during her time within the company. She’s gained a vast wealth of experience and knowledge that has been invaluable to the business. We took Janine aside for a catch up and to reflect on her journey with Simpro so far–not before having a big slice of celebratory cake first, of course!

Q. Tell us a little bit about your journey at Simpro.

A. I started with Simpro on a temporary basis for two weeks doing debt collection. I was then offered a permanent position as the accounts receivable officer over here in Australia and I stayed there for eight years. Then in July of 2020, a position became available in the finance team. That’s when I decided it was time for a change and moved to accounts payable, while also using my financial knowledge for some work within accounts receivable for the US side of the business.

Q. What one thing that has changed the most during your time here?

A. Oh boy has a lot changed over the years. I’d say the one thing that stands out though is the actual software itself! When I think back to Simpro’s humble beginnings and what the software could achieve back then, it’s leaps and bounds from where it was. It’s a lot nicer now!

Q. What is the best “work perk” at Simpro?

A. The introduction of Flex4 has been amazing. I’m a mother of three girls and this has given me the opportunity to actually be a mum and spend more time with the family. My daughters may think otherwise, but it definitely has improved my family life on the whole. So a huge thank you to Simpro for making it possible!

Q. Ten years is a great milestone. How do you feel about reaching this anniversary?

A. Exhausted! No, all jokes aside, it is actually a great achievement and during that time I have learned so many things about myself. But I have to say that Simpro has made it very easy to get to the point I am in my career today.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your decade with Simpro?

A. The day I found out we were getting a chef at our new office, I’m not ashamed to say, I cried!

Q. What piece of advice has helped you the most during your 10 years?

A. I would say one of the things that stands out for me is trying not to get too hung up on things that are out of my control; it is what it is. You can’t change the past, you can only learn from it and try to improve the future.
